The rise of agentic AI workflows is reviving demand for server CPUs alongside GPUs, according to Dereck Dicker, Corporate Vice President of AMD's enterprise business group. While GPUs handle core LLM inference, CPUs are increasingly vital for orchestrating multi-step agent activities, APIs, databases, and execution environments. Dicker noted that modern AI infrastructure configurations are shifting toward a near one-to-one ratio of GPUs to CPUs, moving away from legacy multi-GPU per CPU architectures. AMD aims to capture this expanding enterprise infrastructure demand.
