Ahead of India’s festive season, ecommerce giants Amazon and Walmart-owned Flipkart are tightening operational rules for third-party merchants to improve delivery reliability. Amazon has introduced a graded cancellation fee ranging between 2% and 10% based on order value for Easy Ship and Self Ship services, while increasing closing fees by ₹1 to ₹3. Meanwhile, Flipkart has rolled out a three-tier penalty system charging ₹30 for missed dispatch deadlines and ₹90 for delayed cancellations. These policy shifts come as traditional marketplaces face intensifying competition from rapid delivery platforms expanding aggressively across non-grocery merchandise categories.
