Anthropic Launches Cowork AI Agent for Non-Technical Desktop Tasks

AI safety and research company Anthropic has introduced Cowork, a new desktop AI agent feature integrated into Claude Desktop. Designed for non-technical users, Cowork adapts the autonomous capabilities of Anthropic’s Claude Code tool to handle complex productivity tasks, such as scanning folders, processing receipts, and organizing unstructured files into reports. Currently available as a research preview for Claude Max subscribers paying between $100 and $200 monthly, the tool operates directly within macOS environments. Built internally in less than two weeks, Cowork directly challenges Microsoft Copilot in the growing enterprise workplace automation market.
