Apple has officially launched its digital payment service, Apple Pay, in India on September 30, 2026. The service allows users to store eligible bank cards in Apple Wallet and make contactless payments at physical terminals, within mobile apps, and on websites using Face ID, Touch ID, or passcodes across iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. Apple's India rollout comes a decade after discussions began in 2016. However, the tech giant faces fierce competition from the dominant Unified Payments Interface, which processed 24.51 billion transactions worth ₹29.82 lakh crore in August 2026 alone.
