Apple Pay Launches in India Partnering With Axis Bank

Apple has officially rolled out Apple Pay in India, launching first with Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards. The integration allows iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad users to conduct contactless in-store payments and seamless digital checkouts using Face ID and Touch ID authentication. Major payment aggregators including Razorpay, Cashfree, Juspay, Paytm, Pine Labs, Mswipe, PayU, and Worldline have enabled backend merchant support across their networks. Juspay noted that merchants can activate Apple Pay without new custom integrations, marking a major milestone for foreign mobile wallets entering India's mature digital payments landscape.
