Bengaluru-based Arctus Aerospace is developing high-altitude unmanned aircraft to provide high-resolution surveillance and aerial monitoring for industrial and commercial use. Founded in 2024 by IIT Madras graduate Shreepoorna S Rao, the startup designs 1 to 1.2-tonne aircraft with 20-metre wingspans capable of flying at 50,000 feet for 24 hours. At its 25,000-square-foot Bengaluru facility, Arctus manufactures airframes, avionics, flight computers, and autonomy software from raw titanium, aluminum, and carbon fibre. The platform carries optical, infrared, and radar payloads, offering a cost-effective alternative to satellites and reducing reliance on foreign aerial monitoring systems.
