Karnataka Minister for Greater Bengaluru Development, Krishna Byre Gowda, announced that Bengaluru aims to expand its metro network from 96 kilometres to 170 kilometres over the next 18 months, targeting 400 kilometres by 2037. Speaking at a TechSparks fireside chat with Shradha Sharma, Gowda emphasized plans to develop mixed-use technology zones across a 2,000-square-kilometre planning area. Highlighting Bengaluru’s vital role, he noted that the city accounts for 36% of India’s new office space, hosts 40% of its global capability centres, and contributes roughly 40% to 45% of the country’s $300 billion in exports.
