Bihar-based traditional food startup GomatiRoots, founded by Shital Kumari, has secured Rs 1 lakh in funding through YourStory’s Shuru Kar initiative. The startup focuses on commercialising traditional Bihari badi while creating sustainable market access and employment opportunities for rural women artisans. In its first financial year of operations, GomatiRoots generated Rs 32 lakh in revenue, demonstrating early product-market fit and consumer demand for regional packaged foods. The micro-grant funding will support the enterprise in expanding its supply chain network, upgrading production infrastructure, and broadening distribution channels across urban and semi-urban markets in India.
