Hindusthan National Glass & Industries Ltd (HNGIL) has served an insolvency default notice under Section 8 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code to B9 Beverages, the parent company of craft beer brand Bira 91. The notice demands ₹11.77 crore for unlifted custom-manufactured glass bottles. B9 Beverages has 10 days to settle dues or show proof of a pre-existing dispute before HNGIL can approach the NCLT for insolvency proceedings. HNGIL stated that over 51 lakh customized bottles remain stored in its warehouses despite previously encashing bank guarantees worth ₹3.91 crore.
