The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of a Rs 10,000 crore SME Growth Fund to provide growth equity to small and medium enterprises. Part of the Union Budget 2026-27 initiatives, the fund aims to address the structural shortage of expansion-stage equity capital for viable MSMEs across manufacturing, services, and strategic technology sectors. The patient capital is intended to build globally competitive Indian enterprises, with a majority of allocation directed toward small and medium manufacturing units and emerging industrial clusters in Tier-II and Tier-III regions nationwide.
