CCI Closes Antitrust Probe Against Google Over WinZO RMG Complaint

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has closed its antitrust investigation into Google regarding its policies on real-money gaming (RMG) apps. The probe originated from a complaint by WinZO, which alleged Google abused its market dominance by selectively permitting daily fantasy sports and rummy apps on the Play Store while excluding other RMG platforms. However, the CCI dismissed the case following the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which bans online money games entirely. The regulator stated that granting relief or directing app hosting now violates Indian law.
