Competition Commission of India Chairperson Ravneet Kaur has warned that rapid artificial intelligence adoption is accelerating market shifts and creating fresh competition risks. Speaking at a law training programme at IIULER in Goa, Kaur highlighted concerns around algorithmic self-preferencing, discriminatory pricing, tying, and market manipulation. She noted that digital markets are moving at jet speed due to AI, raising particular scrutiny around agentic AI systems that operate without direct human intervention. The watchdog previously urged companies to conduct self-audits of AI systems for competition compliance to maintain fair digital market practices.
