CCPA Fines Justdial ₹10 Lakh For Listing Hazardous Explosive Materials

The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed a penalty of ₹10 lakh on Justdial for listing and hosting ammonium nitrate, a regulated hazardous substance, on its platform. In an exchange filing, Justdial confirmed receiving the order dated October 28 and stated that it has discontinued the listings while reviewing the directive. The regulator ordered Justdial to immediately remove all items classified as explosives under the Explosives Act, 1884. Justdial noted the financial impact would remain limited to the penalty amount. The action follows wider scrutiny where CCPA penalised multiple ecommerce platforms for similar listings.
