The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has notified the ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme, succeeding the previous production-linked incentive scheme. Spanning five years from FY27 through FY31, the initiative provides incentives between 2.25% and 5% for eligible manufacturers and electronics manufacturing services providers. Domestic brands will receive a 5% incentive, plus an additional 3% for local design and R&D. Companies can also secure an extra 1.5% incentive for sourcing specified components locally, provided at least 25% of manufactured units incorporate domestic components, alongside minimum turnover eligibility thresholds.
