The Indian government has dismissed SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s allegations that domestic oligarchs are stalling Starlink’s commercial rollout in the country. The Ministry of Communications clarified that satcom regulations remain fair and non-discriminatory for all licensed operators. According to the government, Starlink, Reliance Jio Satellite Communications, and Bharti-backed Eutelsat OneWeb are all undergoing standard security vetting to ensure data protection compliance under Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite licenses. Musk had earlier alleged on X that unnamed monopolists were obstructing Starlink’s deployment, labeling the delay a disservice to rural internet connectivity across India.
