Chennai-based medtech startup Attox Research Laboratories is building a point-of-care diagnostic device named Bactolizer to help doctors choose appropriate antibiotics rapidly. Founded in 2023 by Clement, Suganth, and Senthil, the 10-member startup operates from an Erode laboratory and is incubated at Kongu TBI and IIM Bangalore. Standard sensitivity testing takes 24 to 48 hours, causing empirical prescribing that worsens antimicrobial resistance. Bactolizer uses electrochemical cartridges and signal processing algorithms to identify effective antibiotics and dosages across 15 options within 30 minutes to two hours, aiming to ensure accurate first-line treatment.
