The Delhi government launched the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on 26 August 2026, allocating Rs 5,100 crore for fiscal 2026-27. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed initial sanction letters at Talkatora Stadium to beneficiary women. The scheme provides eligible women aged 21 to 60 from lower-income households with Rs 2,500 monthly starting 1 September 2026. Uniquely structured as seed capital, Rs 1,500 is locked into a savings instrument while Rs 1,000 serves as spendable cash. The initiative logged over 9.13 lakh registrations and plans to support more than 17 lakh women across the capital.
