Deeptech startup Discovered Materials has secured $9 million in its maiden funding round from Lightspeed India, Peak XV Partners, and Y Combinator. Founded in 2026 by IIT Madras alumni Akash Ramdas and Advaith Sridhar, the startup develops AI agents designed to accelerate the discovery and testing of advanced materials for semiconductor applications. As global chipmakers face physical performance and heat dissipation limits with existing materials, the startup plans to use the fresh capital to expand its compute infrastructure and scale lab experiments, aligning with India's broader push under the Semicon 2.0 mission for indigenous chip technologies.
