Bengaluru-based digital identity firm eMudhra has decided to exit its global SSL/TLS certificate business after major tech platforms, including Google, Mozilla, and Apple, blocked its certificates over critical security vulnerabilities. The issue stemmed from an April 2025 key-generation error that produced easily guessable private keys for eight certificate authorities instead of standard cryptographic strings. Although eMudhra stated no user data was breached or end-user certificates issued, tech giants initiated blocks across web browsers and operating systems. The company will now refocus entirely on enterprise software and digital trust services, noting SSL contributed just 1% to revenue.
