eMudhra Exits Global SSL/TLS Business Following Security Flaw

Bengaluru-based digital trust company eMudhra has decided to exit its global SSL/TLS certificate business following a security incident involving weak cryptographic keys. The vulnerability, which remained undetected for nearly 18 months across eight intermediate certificate authority keys, prompted Google and Mozilla to block the affected certificates. In a regulatory filing, eMudhra announced its voluntary withdrawal from the segment, citing rising compliance costs, stringent data sovereignty requirements, and diminishing commercial returns against free competitors. While the global SSL/TLS business accounted for roughly 1% of total revenue, eMudhra confirmed no underlying systems or user data were compromised.
