Entry-level engineers in India face significant hiring headwinds, with early-career talent outnumbering available positions, according to a report by hiring platform foundit. Candidates with zero to three years of experience comprise 45% of the active talent pool but account for only 28% of open roles. Across all experience tiers, the platform tracked 39.59 lakh candidates competing for 6.68 lakh openings, an aggregate ratio of 5.9 candidates per job. In contrast, professionals with four to ten years of experience capture 54% of total employer demand as companies prioritize experienced talent.
