Canadian investment firm Fairfax Financial Holdings has proposed transferring its entire holdings in Go Digit General Insurance, Go Digit Life Insurance, and IIFL Capital Services to IDBI Bank. The move follows the Indian government selecting a Fairfax subsidiary as the strategic buyer for a 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank for ₹52,878 crore ($5.6 billion). The proposed transfers will occur at market prices and require regulatory approvals from the Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, and IRDAI. The deal aims to enhance Go Digit's nationwide insurance distribution via IDBI Bank's extensive branch network.
