FIU Issues Notices to 15 Offshore Crypto Platforms, Initiates URL Takedowns

The Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) has issued compliance notices to 15 offshore virtual digital asset (VDA) service providers under Section 13 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The targeted platforms include Bitunix, DigiFinex, Latoken, WOO X, Pionex, and WhiteBIT, among others. Indian authorities have also initiated directions under the Information Technology Act to block the websites and mobile applications of these non-compliant entities. The government requires all crypto platforms serving Indian residents to register as reporting entities and maintain transaction records, regardless of whether they have a physical presence in India.
