Flipkart is set to launch its food delivery service in Bengaluru later this month, directly challenging the entrenched duopoly of Zomato and Swiggy. Initially managed via Flipkart Minutes and fulfilled through Ekart logistics, the service will tap into Flipkart’s 500 million registered user base and 40 million SuperCoins members. To attract restaurant partners, Flipkart plans to charge lower merchant commissions of 12% to 13%, compared to the standard 30% charged by incumbents. The company also plans to leverage ONDC integration for restaurant onboarding before expanding to other Indian cities later this year.
