The Gates Foundation has committed at least $1 billion over two years to expand global artificial intelligence access, targeting communities traditionally excluded by emerging technologies. Announced alongside its 10th annual Goalkeepers Report titled Make This Matter: AI, Equity, and the Choice We Can’t Delay, the initiative focuses on deploying AI across healthcare, education, and livelihoods. The foundation identified three core priorities: expanding language capabilities beyond English datasets, incorporating local community context and data governance, and upskilling healthcare workers, teachers, and developers. It urged global governments and philanthropic organizations to accelerate affordable access before technological divides widen further.
