The Ministry of Labour and Employment has officially notified the constitution of the National Social Security Board for unorganised, gig, and platform workers under the Code on Social Security framework. Presided over by the Union Minister for Labour and Employment, the board includes representatives from central and state governments, aggregator companies, employers, civil society organizations, and worker associations. Mandated to meet at least three times a year, the board will design, monitor, and recommend targeted welfare schemes to extend formal social security protections to millions of digital platform and gig economy workers across India.
