Drone manufacturer ideaForge Technology has received a Goods and Services Tax demand and penalty order totalling ₹109.2 crore from the Additional Commissioner of CGST and Central Excise, Belapur. The order includes a ₹54.6 crore tax demand alongside an equal penalty, covering drone sales between January 2022 and March 2024. Tax authorities alleged ideaForge underpaid taxes by applying a 5% GST rate instead of 18%. The company plans to appeal the order, citing government clarifications on drone tax rates, and stated it does not expect an immediate material impact on operations.
