India has officially become ChatGPT’s largest market worldwide by weekly active users, with its domestic user base doubling since January 2026, according to OpenAI India Managing Director Prabhjeet Singh. India surpassed 100 million weekly active users in February 2026. To deepen engagement beyond tier-1 cities, OpenAI is prioritizing Indian-language capabilities, Android-first features, and upcoming UPI payment integrations. The company is expanding its local footprint across offices in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, alongside a data center partnership with TCS HyperVault starting at 100 megawatts with plans to scale up to 1 gigawatt.
