India’s startup ecosystem now hosts 156 soonicorns valued collectively at $66 billion, according to an analysis by Inc42. Despite heightened investor diligence following governance concerns, capital deployment has accelerated in sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, quick commerce, and deeptech. Seven Indian startups have achieved unicorn status in 2026 so far, including AI startups Sarvam and Emergent, spacetech firm Skyroot Aerospace, and spiritual-tech platform Astrotalk, which attained a $1 billion valuation following an employee stock ownership buyback. The broader ecosystem commands a combined enterprise valuation exceeding $700 billion across early and late-stage companies.
