India's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) has issued non-compliance notices under Section 13 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to 15 offshore virtual digital asset platforms, ordering the takedown of their apps and websites. The targeted platforms include Bitunix, WhiteBIT, Pionex, Toobit, WOO X, ChangeNow, DigiFinex, and Latoken. Since March 2023, all virtual digital asset service providers catering to Indian users are mandated to register with FIU-IND and comply with customer due diligence, record-keeping, and suspicious transaction reporting obligations regardless of their physical location.
