India ranks among the top 10 emerging-market performers in artificial intelligence readiness, according to a World Bank report titled 'India and Artificial Intelligence'. Private AI investment in the country more than tripled from $1.2 billion in 2024 to $4.1 billion in 2025. Additionally, the workforce in Global Capability Centres expanded to 2.36 million professionals in 2025, up from 1.9 million previously. The World Bank highlighted India's large technical talent base, IT ecosystem, and digital public infrastructure, while recommending targeted policies and infrastructure investments to help distribute AI's productivity gains across broader economic sectors.
