India's Deeptech Inflows Surge to $2.22B as Deal Sizes Jump Fourfold

Indian deeptech startups raised $2.22 billion across 179 deals through August 2026, up 2.6x from $861 million across 287 rounds during the same period in 2025. Despite total capital rising, deal volumes dropped by nearly 40%, while average check sizes jumped fourfold from $3 million to over $12 million. The trend reflects private capital crowding into proven winners rather than early-stage derisking. To address the early-stage gap, the Indian government has introduced a Rs 1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation scheme alongside SIDBI's Rs 10,000 crore Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0.
