India's electric two-wheeler registrations dropped by 16.2% month-on-month in August, falling to 1.72 lakh units from 2.05 lakh units in July, according to Vahan portal data. Despite the monthly contraction, registrations grew 64% year-on-year compared to 1.05 lakh units in August 2025. The decline comes amid reduced central government incentives, which halved subsidy support to ₹2,500 per kWh of battery capacity. Market leader TVS Motor maintained top positioning alongside Bajaj Auto, while Ola Electric improved its market share. Leading original equipment manufacturers are increasingly introducing models priced under ₹1 lakh to capture commuter segment demand.
