India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are projected to add 1 to 1.4 million net jobs by 2031, expanding the total workforce to 3.7 million employees, according to a report by service provider Embark. This expansion is expected to generate 150 to 170 million square feet of incremental office demand. Based on a survey of 100 Indian GCC leaders, the report notes that while AI adoption is widespread, productivity gains remain under 15%. Routine roles will shrink by 0.5 million due to automation, but higher-value functional ownership will drive overall headcount growth.
