India has officially signed a $45.7 million agreement with the United States under the Foreign Military Sales program to procure 100 FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank guided missiles and 25 launch units. Finalized on August 28, 2026, the deal aims to significantly bolster the Indian Army's anti-armor operational readiness. The man-portable, fire-and-forget missile system is designed to destroy fortified positions and armored vehicles. The agreement also paves the way for potential co-production initiatives with state-run defense enterprise Bharat Dynamics Limited, strengthening bilateral defense and industrial ties between the two nations.
