IndiaAI Mission Launches Indigenous AI Models EKA-1 and Dhīr

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, under the IndiaAI Mission, has unveiled three indigenous artificial intelligence models: EKA-1, Dhīr 2B, and Dhīr 5B. Developed by Bengaluru-based Soket Labs and ZenteiQ AiTech Innovations, the suite includes smaller models engineered to run directly on smartphones and laptops without internet connectivity. Unveiled by IT Ministry Secretary S. Krishnan in New Delhi, the models focus on domestic languages, data sovereignty, and security, targeting practical deployment across government departments, academic institutions, research labs, and private enterprises.
