India's enterprise AI ecosystem is shifting toward domain-specific vertical models, mirroring the trajectory of SaaS adoption a decade ago. Companies are developing targeted solutions, including Razorpay's Vulcan, Fractal's healthcare reasoning models, and BharatGen's agriculture and legal models. Additionally, Tech Mahindra recently unveiled an 8-billion-parameter Hindi-first LLM tailored for adaptive tutoring to overcome English bias in global models. BharatGen CEO Rishi Bal noted that while frontier models like ChatGPT and Claude are versatile, vertical models offer targeted enterprise value, allowing software companies to leverage proprietary data advantages.
