Karnataka IT and E-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge stated at TechSparks 2026 that the state government is taking a cautious, responsible approach toward deploying artificial intelligence in governance. Speaking on data privacy and AI safety, Kharge noted that a dedicated committee has been established to formulate guidelines for responsible AI usage across public administration. While remaining vigilant about algorithmic risks, the government is currently deploying AI solutions for citizen grievance redressal, healthcare, and urban mobility. Kharge added that Karnataka is heavily investing in AI skilling initiatives and partnering with startups to solve civic challenges.
