The Karnataka government has initiated immediate AI skilling programmes ahead of establishing the proposed Karnataka Artificial Intelligence University. The KAIU Consultation Committee, co-chaired by Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and IT Secretary Dr N. Manjula, held its first meeting in Bengaluru on September 5. The state plans certificate and diploma programmes, finishing schools, and executive reskilling in generative AI, agentic AI, physical AI, semiconductors, and data infrastructure. These public-private initiatives will target university students, tech professionals, rural youth, and researchers, aiming to accelerate AI workforce readiness across the state.
