Meta announced taking down 5.3 million pieces of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in India during the first half of 2026, achieving a proactive detection rate exceeding 98%. Globally, the company removed 33.2 million violative pieces. Amid regulatory scrutiny in India, Meta rolled out upgraded AI-powered systems and ad review frameworks across Facebook and Instagram. The tech giant integrated LLM-driven tools to identify signposting tactics used by predators to evade detection, deployed automated AI sweeps to find missed content, and introduced red-teaming AI agents to continuously test defenses against repeat offenders creating new accounts.
