Microsoft announced a Voluntary Exit Offer (VEO) on October 26, targeting approximately 60,000 employees globally across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The program applies to staff at job level 70 and below across participating units, representing nearly 27% of Microsoft's 223,000-strong global workforce. While Microsoft employs around 23,000 people in India, specific regional impact numbers remain undisclosed. According to Chief People Officer Amy Coleman, departing employees will receive financial compensation and career transition support as Microsoft reallocates capital toward expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center capacities.
