The National Investment and Infrastructure Fund has marked the first close of its second infrastructure fund at Rs 19,000 crore, targeting a total corpus of Rs 30,000 crore. Anchored by the Government of India, the fund drew investments from major global institutional investors including AustralianSuper, CPP Investments, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and Temasek. Domestic participants included ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Life, and HDFC Life. Alongside the main vehicle, NIIF expects to mobilise an additional Rs 9,000 crore in co-investment capital to support large-scale infrastructure assets across India.
