NPCI Launches Instant Card-Issuing ATMs and Open-Source AI Suite AiNxt

At the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, the National Payments Corporation of India launched open-source Android ATMs capable of instantly issuing RuPay debit cards and merchant UPI QR codes. Unveiled by Department of Financial Services Secretary Sanjay Lohiya, the devices serve as comprehensive digital banking units for account opening and loan disbursements. Major lenders including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Slice Small Finance Bank are currently piloting the units. NPCI also unveiled AiNxt, an open-source enterprise platform providing specialized development tools and operating systems to build agentic financial AI applications.
