A study by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) revealed that while 84% of enterprise executives report productivity improvements from AI investments, only 10% allow AI agents to execute autonomous decisions without human approval. Furthermore, just 9% of organizations have AI agents capable of securely orchestrating workflows across enterprise applications. Security, governance, and operational resilience emerged as the primary barriers preventing deeper autonomous deployment. The report also highlighted that 90% of respondents consider AI model independence vital, yet only 7% maintain organization-wide continuity plans to switch between different AI model providers.
