OpenAI has officially begun rolling out advertisements on ChatGPT in India for logged-in adult users on Free and Go subscription tiers. Paid tiers, including Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education, remain ad-free. Ad agency networks WPP and Omnicom serve as launch partners, with over 50 brands slated to roll out initial campaigns. Starting September 4, businesses can access ChatGPT's self-serve ads manager with daily budgets beginning at ₹725. Ads will appear clearly labeled below AI responses when relevant products match queries, presenting conversational alternatives to standard search ad formats ahead of the festive shopping season.
