US-based fintech giant PayPal has laid off roughly 220 employees in India, representing nearly 4% of its domestic workforce, across offices in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The job cuts impacted teams across engineering, technology, operations, payments, and finance functions. The reduction is part of PayPal's broader multi-year global restructuring initiative aimed at reducing its international headcount by about 20%, or approximately 4,760 jobs, to unlock at least $1.5 billion in operational savings. The phased global exercise began in the Asia-Pacific region before extending to operations across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
