PhonePe Deploys Over 200 AI Agents to Cut Operational Costs

Fintech major PhonePe has deployed more than 200 internal AI agents used daily by 1,600 employees to streamline workflows and reduce operating costs, according to CTO Srijon Biswas at Inc42’s CTO Summit 2026. The company slashed voice agent expenses to one-sixth of previous levels and automated select KYC onboarding workflows, reassigning 20 human agents to other roles. Specific compliance audit tasks were shortened from four days to three minutes. Additionally, PhonePe saved approximately 22 person-days per software release cycle through automated code generation, accelerating product development from design to deployment.
