PhonePe Partners With Visa to Launch Cardless Payments Across 14 Markets

Walmart-backed fintech giant PhonePe has partnered with Visa to roll out three cardless payment solutions for merchants and consumers in India and 14 international markets. The new offerings include Tap to Pay for domestic in-store transactions, Cross Border Scan to Pay for overseas payments, and Smart Accept for merchants. Tap to Pay allows Android users to tokenise Visa debit or credit cards and make contactless payments at PoS terminals even in low-connectivity environments. Meanwhile, the cross-border QR feature will span countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan, making PhonePe the first Indian app offering this functionality.
