Red Balloon Aerospace builds near-space infrastructure for Indian deeptech testing

Vijayawada-based spacetech startup Red Balloon Aerospace is developing near-space infrastructure to support high-altitude payload testing and operations in India. Founded in 2025 by Chief Executive Officer CVS Kiran, a former Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre scientist and Skyroot Aerospace vice president, the company focuses on stratospheric airships, aerostats, and super-pressure balloons. Kiran launched the venture to address India's severe shortage and long waitlists for near-space testing facilities located between aviation altitudes and satellite orbits. The startup aims to build indigenous deeptech platforms to establish sovereign near-space operational capabilities and accelerate domestic space technology development timelines.
