Reliance Jio plans to test-launch satellites for its proposed 1,600-satellite low Earth orbit constellation in September 2027. The test will evaluate hardware, software, and orbital systems ahead of mass deployment scheduled for early 2028. Jio aims to launch 400 to 450 satellites by 2030 and complete the full constellation by 2035. The telecom operator has applied to the International Telecommunication Union for orbital resources. Initial coverage will deliver sovereign satellite broadband across underserved regions in India by 2028 before expanding globally, supported by domestic ground stations alongside global partner networks.
